Operation Spring Plant Inc in conjunction with North Carolina Agriculture and Technology State University held training sessions to prepare small farmers and ranchers for the matrix that the gap certification would include. This certification is not mandatory at this time but in order to be ahead of the game Operation Spring Plant and Prize of the Harvest want to insure that small farmers are prepared and ready to grow when the change is made mandate in order to do business with retail outlets. Following these procedures also insure that as farmers they give their land the best care and are aware of the dangers that the surrounding environment can cause their farm.
